ABOUT LISA JANE DE GARA
My name is Lisa Jane de Gara. My team and I work to provide comprehensive support services to immigrant and refugee children and their families, ensuring they have access to quality education and the resources they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I\'m all about making sure immigrant and refugee kids feel right at home here in Canada. I work for Action for Healthy Communities, an IRCC-funded settlement organization supporting newcomers to Canada. As the Manager of AHC\'s Rural Program (Small Centres), and our Settlement Workers in Schools Program, my team and I work to support students and their families with everything they need to thrive in their new schools and communities. Beyond settlement work, I love teaching- whether at college, undergraduate, or the graduate level.
