Senior Leadership Responsibilities include: Champions the Christian identity and mission of the university in various venues, both internally and externally; Oversees the spiritual well‐being of the university student community; Fosters the development of co‐curricular programming that will assist students in the integration of Christian faith with their respective academic disciplines; Regularly presides over Chapel services; Co-chairs the Christian Formation Council; Partners with the School of Theology, Center for Biblical and Theological Education, and Faculty Life Office; Provides strategic guidance on issues related to spiritual formation of the student body; Represents SPU with key churches and denominations, including the Free Methodist Church. Leadership and Oversight of the Office of University Ministries (UMin) include: Manages UMin (including its budget), comprised of Campus Ministries and the John Perkins Center for Reconciliation, Leadership Training, and Community Development and Church and Community Connections; In collaboration with the Provost, reorganizes the work of UMin as needed; Leads UMin in providing worship, discipleship, and reconciliation opportunities; Leads UMin in offering leadership and peer mentoring opportunities for upperclassmen; In conjunction with the Faculty Life Office, informs and trains faculty and other staff on college student faith development and encourages participation in that development; Leads UMin in assisting students in finding and entering into church communities for regular worship; Forges and maintains intentional partnerships with area partners internally and externally.
