ABOUT LISA HERBERT BORGSDORF

Accomplished arts leader with a 20+ years of experience in program development, community engagement, strategic partnerships, and change management. Recognized for building collaborative partnerships, creating welcoming spaces for dialogue and creativity, and amplifying underrepresented voices through public engagement. As Associate Director for Public Experience & Learning at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), I lead the team responsible for designing and implementing over 100 programs annually that draw people to the museum. I build and manage our departmental budget, align resource capacities and staff work plans with organizational values and long term strategic priorities. I have established and stewarded key organizational partnerships with Inuit Futures in Arts Leadership, U-M\'s Multi Ethnic Student Affairs, and the African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County. Recent programmatic highlights include: the design and launch of UMMA\'s signature Feel Good Friday series; multiyear public engagement with Indigenous artists and communities; and collaborative high impact colloquia and roundtables such as Free to Speak: A Convening on Art, Slavery, and Reconciliation, and Black Brilliance: Growing Black Artistic & Cultural Futures.
