About Lisa Heaton

Lisa has worked in the sports nutrition realm since 2007 and is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) with interests in sports nutrition, recovery, hydration and performance. As a sports dietitian at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), Lisa works with nutrition related education and translation of research, as well as supports the athlete engagement program. She served as the Sports Dietitian for the Chicago Bulls for the 20••••16 and 20••••17 seasons. Lisa joined GSSI in February 2011 after working as the sports dietitian for the National Institute for Athletic Health & Performance in Sioux Falls, SD (Now Sanford Sports Science Institute). Lisa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics at Bradley University. She completed her dietetic internship and earned her Master’s degree in Exercise Science at the University of Houston. In July of 2009, Lisa earned the CSSD credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the premier credential for sports dietitians. Lisa currently serves as a volunteer on the Specialty Examination Work Group for the CSSD exam. She also enjoys working as an affiliate instructor for her Alma Mater, Bradley University, teaching Sports and Exercise Nutrition to undergraduates. In her space time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and puppy, as well as running, cycling, hiking, snow shoeing, and pretty much anything else that keeps her outside.
