Project Engineer. Canal Street Viaduct Rehabilitation from Jackson Boulevard to Harrison Street. 11/2020-Present. Parsons is providing Phase 2 design engineering services for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Canal Street between Jackson Boulevard and Harrison Street in Chicago. Within these limits, Canal Street spans over portions of the southern tracks entering Chicago Union Station and continues south under the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290)/Congress Parkway. Lisa assists the project manager with schedule and budget, client/subconsultant correspondence, and the preparation and compilation of contract documents. Project Engineer. 30 Phase I Preliminary Engineering, Joliet, Illinois, United States. Parsons provided preliminary engineering and environmental studies to improve two historic 1930s-era Rolling Scherzer Lift bridges carrying US 30 over the Des Plaines River in Joliet, Illinois. The project scope included preparing a project report (categorical exclusion) to identify the need for improvements, based primarily on structural condition, and proposed improvements, including the design criteria used, geometric improvements, and design exceptions. The primary recommendations focused on the proposed improvements to the bridges, including structural and mechanical rehabilitation recommendations. Phase I special design and construction considerations were also included, and environmental considerations for the recommended improvements were documented, along with environmental coordination. Parsons also analyzed enclosed drainage system options, crash causes, safety measure recommendations, and traffic management for route closures. US 30 is considered a significant route, and the closures required a full traffic management plan and impact analysis. Lisa assisted with preparing the project report, the feasibility report for a proposed two-way traffic conversion, the transportation management plan, and cost estimates.
