ABOUT LISA ADAMS
I spent years wondering what my calling was, floating from job to job with no real aim. After finally finding some stability in life and working on my own mental health, I recognised that I wanted to work with others in theirs. I finally completed my maths gcse, achieved an access to nursing course and completed a bsc with honours in mental health nursing at At uni, I found another calling and fell in love with the university experience. I knew now that I wanted to teach in the nursing field that I found so incredible. Once qualified, I worked in an acute dementia unit and then I went on to work I children and adolescent mental health services focusing on the mood and anxiety pathway but then achieving a further qualification in Non-violent resistance, a systemic approach to supporting young people in their most troubled times. I then was contacted regarding a lecturer position at and I took the opportunity in front of me. During my time here, I have now moved to the position of course director and have worked with the nursing school to take the course through exceptionally difficult times and look towards improvement in the future.I look to continue to develop and improve the course to ensure that students are ready and able to get the most from the university experience, enjoy being part of an incredible course and confidently qualify into the world of mental health nursing.
