ABOUT LIOR SCHENK

As an interdisciplinary science and technology educator, I empower young people to be more curious, creative, and collaborative in a rapidly changing world. Currently, I teach high schoolers in the inaugural Innovation and Technology department at the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences. I am fascinated by the complex ways in which knowledge is constructed, and I am continually driven to build equitable spaces centering the whole child in authentic inquiry and meaningful project based learning. I hold a B.S. in Neuroscience from UC San Diego and an M.S.Ed. in Science Education from the University of Pennsylvania. I am formally credentialed in 7-12th science education, with additional specializations in maker based learning and constructionist pedagogy. Much of my work is inspired by collaborations with the MIT Media Lab, Harvard Project Zero, the SF Exploratorium, and the Stanford d.School. Outside of the classroom, I am interested in spreading knowledge on constructionist methods, and currently serve as a FabLearn Fellow at Columbia University. When I\'m not teaching, I love reading, artmaking, and exploring new technologies for creativity.I welcome all those interested in sharing insight. Let\'s work together.
