ABOUT LIONEL JAMES

I have held major roles within the Building Services Design Departments of ONE Creative Environments Ltd. & N.G. Bailey, Birmingham has Associate Director and Lead Principal Designer respectively. Lead Designer whilst working on various projects responsible for managing Teams of 3 – 6 multi-disciplined Engineers, designing and coordinating design proposals for review with other Design Team Members, Clients and End Users.Throughout my career progression in building services design/project management, I have worked with both M&E Consultancies and Contractors of various sizes within the Industry, including N G Bailey, Capita Symonds, W.S.P, HOW Engineering, Cudd Bentley & Arup where I started. My core skills are Project Management and delivery of detailed design solutions with the expert understanding and interpretation of the client’s specific needs. I have a strong commitment to low energy solutions, and their implementation on all type of projects. Due to my passion for continued professional development (CPD) and continuous learning for young Design Team members I have recently (2013 -15) successfully achieved Chartered Engineering (CEng) status of the Engineering Council (EngC), and Chartered Member status of Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI). I have also acquired formal Mentoring qualifications with both the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) & the Northern Council for Further Education (NCFE), each were self-funded (20••••13). Memberships/Volunteer in WMidlands Region include;Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Committee. Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Ambassador in the Hereford & Worcestershire/Birmingham & Solihull Regions.Technicians Apprentice Consortium (TAC) Women in Science & Engineering (WISE)Notable Clients: NEC & ICC Birmingham, Aston Martin, The Open University, BCU, Arla Foods & Admiral Insurance as well as various NHS HealthCare Trusts and Retail Shopping Developers.
