Leading the 3-year project \"MutZurNatuRR\" to support civic engagement, provide participatory events and education for sustainabel development, and implement area-based nature conservation projects for sustainable regional development. This serves to promote biodiversity and creates sustainable networks for participation and long-term commitment for ecological change. More information: Starting Bürge-Zentrum für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (Bürge Center for Sustainable Development) in Buir (close to the Hambach forest and mine, largest in Europe) to serve as a central point of contact for citizens and initiatives for ecological transformation and support them with information, resources, and tailored offers. the Bürge Center in Buir is being established as an open meeting place, advice center, and networking hub. A comprehensive program of activities and events provides knowledge about structural change, strengthens commitment, and increases the visibility of existing activities in the region- Developing and coordinating regional activities for NABU NRW together with socially and ecologically committed actors from the region to empower people who want to actively engage in nature conservation, climate action, sustainable development, and shaping structural change in a sustainable way.

ABOUT LINUS PLATZER
Linus is working as project leader, policy advisor and coordinator at NABU NRW to shape a more sustainable region beyond coal in the Rhineland. Protecting and building nature-friendly and climate-resilient pathways will need empowering citizens and socio-ecological stakeholders - especially in a region visibly hurt and locked in by costly fossil business as usual. Therefore he engages with NABU\'s members, allies and political stakeholders to developstrategies for biodiversity and nature restoration as well as new economic and social opportunities for local communities. Better aligning large and ambitious projects with social and ecological agendas holds the key for a better life. For this, Linus works to strengthen bottom-up initiative, sustainability, empowerment, and long-term perspectives in this structural transition.Linus is a collaborative leader, skilled researcher, and effective policy entrepreneur who understands both the big picture and the need for detailed analysis and pragmatic action. His work focuses on sustainability transitions, more specifically urban, regional, national and international energy, transport, and climate policies, with a special interest in institutional solutions. Linus brings a broad perspective through having lived on multiple continents, and having worked in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. He has a track record in academic and policy research as well as demonstrated experience in bringing people and ideas together.Linus has been working with NABU NRW since 2024. Before, he was responsible project coordinator for Klima-Allianz Deutschland in NRW on coal exit and just transition 20••••23. Previously, he worked on innovative and sustainable pilot projects for a global urban mobility transition with the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative at GIZ. Linus started his career in the Cities team at the global think tank World Resources Institute in Washington, DC, at the intersection of transport policy, public engagement, and climate change. He is a graduate from the #1 US-ranked MPA program at the School of Environmental and Public Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University.
