ABOUT LINUS WESTHEUSER
I am a sociologist researching political divides and their roots in social inequality. Topics that interest me include the political significance of class in the 21st century, the role of social group identities for political cleavages, and ordinary citizens\' moral reasoning. I work as a Senior Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Ethnic and Religious Diversity in Göttingen and also direct the DFG Research Network “Qualitative Studies of Public Opinion: Understanding the Crises of Democratic Politics”. Before joining the MPI, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Social Sciences at Humboldt University Berlin, the Institute of Political Science at the University of Zurich and a visiting researcher at the International Inequalities Institute at London School of Economics (LSE). I received my PhD from Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence in 2022.
