About Ling Liu
Dr. Ling Liu is the Chief Scientific Officer of the Biotherapeutic Discovery Research in Eli Lilly and Company. She received her BS degree in College of Life Science at Sichuan University in and her MSc. Degree in Genetic Institute, Chinese Academy of Science. She received her Ph.D. on Molecular Biology from Western University in Canada. She joined Eli Lilly Biotherapeutic Discovery Research in 1997 after conducting a postdoctoral research at the British Columbia Cancer Research Center in Vancouver. She is passionate to discover and develop novel game change medicines to help patients around the world. Over the years, she has contributed to many experimental biotherapeutics from Concept to Candidate Selection and clinical development for treatment of autoimmune diseases, cancer, diabetes, neuron degeneration and pain. She is the scientific team leader and a co-inventor for Ixekizumab (Taltz) and many other experimental biotherapeutics. Her research contributed to over 25 drug candidates entered clinic including COVID-19 antibodies. She contributed to key biotherapeutic platforms and modalities including bispecific Antibody, protein / petite drugs, antibody drug conjugation and antibody siRNA conjugation for selective delivery to specific cells and tissues. She has collaborated scientists broadly inside and outside of the company. She has served in the Biologic Strategy Committee, Biotherapeutic Leadership Team, Immunology Discovery Strategy Group, Research Leadership Team overseeing all therapeutic indications. She has sponsored Lilly ADC Platform and Antibody siRNA Conjugation Platform. During 26 years R&D at Lilly, Dr. Ling Liu contributed launched multiple Biotherapeutics and a dozen at different stages of clinic development. She was an advisor for Women CEOs of Start-up Companies through Lilly-Springboard Enterprise collaborations in 2018. Dr. Liu is passionate about mentoring others.
