Tech innovation, strategy and support for the department, including social media policy and guidance. Focus on mobile and low-bandwidth engagement in public diplomacy. • Lead online engagements for major campaigns, including design and implementation, with Secretary of State John Kerry, White House advisors and other Department officials.• Present “Tech Society,” an award-winning, department-wide discussion on tech, pilots, new tools, trends and commercial developments in digital and online communication.• Pilot and research new products and platforms to help over 75 embassies and consulates communicate with target audiences via social media and online properties.• Train and provide ongoing support on to US diplomats and staff, including at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), on social media policies and best practices.• Engage major tech companies (Facebook, Twitter, Google, et al.) on behalf of U.S. embassies to plan events, deploy new products, and resolve technical issues.• Provide special training and informational sessions with foreign diplomats and ministers on Department social media use.• Edit and write technical communication, including Department-wide guidance on mobile outreach, accessibility compliance, etc.• Attend tech conferences (i.e, Tech Crunch Disrupt) and country-specific events (i.e. Pew research roundtables) to meet developers, entrepreneurs and experts.• Strategy and training on domestic and international security (including security policy); legal (including privacy, compliance); and technical implications (including accessibility).• Member of Internet Steering Committee, the Department of State’s internet governance body.• Extensive regional focus and strategic planning for Africa and East Asia Pacific bureaus.• Maintain Secret Level clearance.
