ABOUT LINDSEY HUERLIMANN

Work Experience:I\'ve gained experience both through work and volunteering, with people of all ages with varying cognitive and physical disabilities. I currently am working as a lifeguard and swimming instructor for the City of Coquitlam. I have taken the \"Head Lifeguard Course\"​ as well as the \"Senior Aquatic Leader\"​ (SAL) training. I am responsible for the smooth operations of the pool during some of my shifts, when I am working as a SAL. I have worked as a Movement Therapist an Aqua Therapist for the movement therapy program,\"Empowering Steps\"​ for children living with autism at Club Aviva. I also worked as a Recreation Assistant for Icelandic Harbour Assisted Living where I organized and lead a number of activities such as arts and crafts, bingo, chair exercises, and special events.Volunteer Experience:My volunteer experiences include: Special Olympics BC as a swim coach, an \"​In-School Mentor\" for the Big Sisters and Brothers of Vancouver, a volunteer at Easter Seals Camp at Shawnigan Lake, and a volunteer for the Disabled Sailing Association of BC.Education:I have recently completed the Masters of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy at UBC. Prior to the OT program at UBC, I studied Kinesiology at SFU and obtained my BSc.Interests:I am passionate about photography. I am pursuing this on the side, however, it would be neat to incorporate this into my occupational therapy work :) I am also interested in yoga, and I think it would be neat to also incorporate this into my work. I like to travel and I love sunny destinations.
