About Lindsey Blodgétt

I own a consulting firm called NextWave Consulting and work on issues related to water risk assessments, water and youth, and am serving as one of 15 ‘Water and Climate Coalition Leaders’ as part of the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) initiative to advance SDG6 (water) on the global agenda. Formerly serving as the youth rep to the Global Water Partnership Steering Committee, and the President of the World Youth Parliament for Water (WYPW), I advocated for youth engagement to influence the global water agenda. I was recently nominated as one of 100 of the young “Leaders of Tomorrow” by the St. Gallen Symposium where I presented on the ‘Value of Water,’ and by global water activist Mina Guli and the #RunningDry campaign as one of the 100 Water Heroes. In 2019, I started my business and began working on advising international governmental agencies on issues related to engaging youth into environmental programming, and building capacity for the next generation of water leaders. My consulting business has also led me to build strategic partnerships for NGOs focusing on safe water enterprises. I frequently speak about global water policy, youth engagement in water and climate change issues, youth leadership, water governance, water risks, and water and peace. I have delivered over 20 international presentations in the past 2.5 years, including the 2020 High-Level Political Forum Special Event Official Launch of the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework. My Master\'s degree is in Water Management and Hydrological Science from Texas A&M University with research focused on decision-making processes and governance issues related to regional and national water management planning. My most recent research was in Texas and also in Lebanon. I am currently rounding out my capacity for evaluating water risks for companies, cities, and nations by taking a course called ‘Water Risk Assessment Blue Print’. Water management is an evolving scientific art (yes, I think those two should go together, and more often), and love continuing to learn the tricks of the trade. We are never really done being students anyways, right? Previously, I worked as a researcher on water governance and water-energy-food topics at the American University of Beirut and Texas A&M; was the outdoor adventure graduate assistant at Texas A&M; taught English in Nicaragua; and co-developed an environmental field school program for college students in Costa Rica. On my spare time you\'re likely to find me adventuring near the very thing I advocate the most for: water!
