About Lindsay Stromgren
I am currently the Fire Chief for the Amherst Massachusetts Fire Department. Previously I was the Assistant Fire Chief for Operations and training for the Department. I have proudly served the Amherst Fire Department for forty-two years in many roles including as a Student Volunteer Firefighter, a part-time Call Firefighter, and a union Career Firefighter, as well as filled many officer roles. I oversee the administration of the department and its three forces, including preparing and implementing our operating and capital budgets.In a related fire service role, I work with the Special Operations unit out of the State Fire Marshalls office. We respond to incidents around the state to support local fire departments with an Incident Command Vehicle, a firefighter scene rehabilitation vehicle, and as a drone pilot for surveying fire and other emergency scenes/rescues.I serve as an Adjunct Faculty member at Greenfield Community College where I teach courses in the Fire Science Program, primarily Fire Hydraulics and Fire Protection Systems. I also sit on the Fire Science Advisory Board, and the Alumni Council.I am a voting member of the Western Massachusetts Homeland Security Interoperability Council. We evaluate regional radio and other systems for compatibility, utility, and recommend funding for regional projects.I hold dual United States and United Kingdom citizenships and passports. I love to travel and to meet new people. I am an avid hiker and SCUBA diver, and keenly interested in radio and related communications – I hold a General Class Amateur Radio license.
