WORK HISTORY
Project Health Safety Environment Manager @Turner Construction Company
West Des Moines, IA, US
I started as an intern with Turner Construction in December 2013. During this 6 month internship, I was given the opportunity to travel to projects all over the state of Texas. Being able to shadow a different Safety Manager at each location, was the key to my success today as a safety professional. Understanding my role and responsibilities, being exposed to the different challenges and managerial styles, and learning something new about the commercial construction industry each day. In May 2014, I accepted the position as an Assistant Safety Manager in Altoona, Iowa. Turner was the general contractor over a site that consisted of three data centers. At peak manpower, there was easily 1,500 employees. Managing safety professionals for each subcontractor, document management and electronic organization, daily safety stand downs, training and orientations, risk mitigation/management/analysis, insurance, OSHA and local safety vender partnerships, hazard communication, continuous improvement of policies and procedures, pre-task planning, fit-friendly work site award - American Heart Association. In October 2015 I was relocated back to Texas to assume a new role as a Project Safety Manager.I spent several years in Texas as the project safety professional on a wide variety of projects ranging from data centers, parking garages, renovations, hospitals, apartment buildings, and airports. I have now relocated back to Iowa for work on another data center for a high profile client. In July 2020, I was promoted to Project EHS Manager and OCIP Coordinator. In April 2021, I was offered the lead project safety position for the new data center campus.
