ABOUT LINDSAY SEMMELMAN
I\'m Lindsay Semmelman, a passionate advocate for political and social change and a recent graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I earned my degree in Political Science and Communication. This year, I’m proud to be joining Teach For America, where I’ll be teaching history in Massachusetts, bringing my passion for civic engagement and education directly into the classroom. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I’ve been driven by a commitment to shaping impactful narratives and advancing equity through strategic communication and policy. I’ve gained experience with organizations such as the Center for American Progress, NextGen America, Exponential Intelligence, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, developing skills in grassroots organizing, digital outreach, and legislative advocacy. I’ve also had the opportunity to intern for Jarret Clem for State Senate and with the University of Illinois System’s Institute of Government and Public Affairs, where I deepened my understanding of public policy and media strategy. Studying abroad in Vienna expanded my global perspective. My academic research on topics including intersectionality, housing equity, and U.S. political institutions reflects my dedication to understanding and addressing systemic challenges. As I begin my career in education, I’m excited to continue bridging history, policy, and communication in ways that empower communities and contribute to a more informed and equitable future.
