ABOUT LINDSAY RITCHINGS LOONEY

I am very active in the health and well being of children of all ages. I am interested in accessible, high-quality early education in which children are playing, exploring, thriving and discovering. When a child is safe and comfortable, learning can begin. As an early childhood educator I believe in educating the whole child across all developmental domains: language, cognitive, physical and social and emotional. My educational motto is caring: we learn to care for ourselves, each other and our surroundings. I believe every school should be equitable and free from bias. Included in equity is the inclusion of all abilities integrated into the general classroom. My career originated in Washington DC where I started my own Nanny placement company. I decided to venture into early education when I became a Physical Education Teacher for a private preschool called Little Folks, became a lead teacher there and excelled into an administrative role. I left DC for a job in NYC as the Director of the Wellness and Movement Program for the Lower Division students at Avenues: The World School which was hosted and operated through Chelsea Piers, NY. While at Chelsea Piers, I spent my summers as the Director of the preschool and junior summer camps. After obtaining experience in both early childhood education and primary education I decided to take a year off from my career to obtain a Master\'s in Early Childhood Education; Leadership and Administration. After receiving my degree I became the Assistant Director for CP Kids Day Care and Preschool which led into the position of Interim Director of the CP Kids. After my maternity leave I accepted a part time position at Chelsea Piers as the Director of School Physical Education Programs that serves children and schools PK-12th. Presently, Vermont is where we call home. Here I have accepted semester dependent part time positions as a Student Teacher Supervisor within The College of Education and Social Services at The University of Vermont. My daily tasks are always an opportunity to enrich the lives of children.
