I became an activist after her husband, Alan, was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2003. One year late, Doug Larkin and I founded the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) to reach out to those affected by asbestos-related diseases. As President and CEO, I have harnessed the power of social networks to unite those affected by asbestos-related disease and those fighting for a ban on asbestos in the U.S. and around the world. Since 2004, I have been a strong political voice for justice in every major asbestos-related issue, frequently serving as a U.S. Congressional witness and presenting persuasive testimony and educational briefings to lawmakers and staffers.Recognized as an expert with over 40 years of nonprofit experience in building and sustaining grassroots organizations, I specialize in developing, implementing, and leveraging integrated social media campaigns, digital storytelling, art-driven advocacy, and shaping public policy to a worldwide audience.I have delivered hundreds of speeches and keynote addresses focused on strategic storytelling, protecting public health, and shaping public policy to audiences throughout the U.S. and in nearly 30 countries.
