Continually positions and grows organization’s influence as advocate for natural, historical, and cultural resources preservation, and develops public policy priorities and strategic approaches to further Trustees’ mission in MA. Leads development and implementation of local, state, and federal policy and budgets, drafts and helps enact legislation, manage communications, cultivate relationships, and secure support from lawmakers and key stakeholders including partner nonprofits, business leaders and associations. Ensures equity is prioritized and redirects public resources to vulnerable communities including environmental justice populations. Manages teams and relationships with lobbying and public relations consultants. Highlights include: • Co-authored language and led collaborative efforts to secure over $400M in American Rescue Plan Act funding for land acquisition, climate resilience programs, ecological restoration, and creation of new parks and trails. • Secured $2M in Congressionally Directed Spending, and additional $2M in American Rescue Plan Act funds for Trustees create Piers Park in East Boston. Annually secure legislative earmarks to support Trustees’ projects in annual state budgets, bonds and spending packages. • Co-authored Natural and Working Lands provisions in 2021 MA climate law. Leading advocate for NWL policies and programs in the state’s 2030/2050 Clean Energy and Climate Plans to increase carbon removal and storage by conserving, managing, and restoring forests, wetlands, and farms. • Helped write and negotiate passage of landmark Public Lands Protection Act. • Co-led effort to create new MA Office of Outdoor Recreation.
