ABOUT LINDA MCNULTY PEREZ
I am a historian and archaeologist trained in the history of the ancient Mediterranean and working to preserve the cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest. I completed a PhD in Classics (Ancient History) at Princeton University, with a dissertation on Homeric poetry\'s impact on non-elite religious experiences. In my academic work, I combine methods and sources from historiography, literary scholarship, and material culture to study archaic and classical Greek history and religion. I also write about the impact of the classical tradition in contemporary Mexico and the US Borderlands. My work in cultural resources began with the excavation of a camas processing site in eastern Washington for the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. I now do archival research, conduct fieldwork, and prepare reports on sites throughout the Pacific Northwest as an archaeologist and historian for Historical Research Associates. Some of my favorite parts of what I do are untangling regulatory frameworks, engaging with stakeholders, and thinking deeply about how different people and groups connect with the past.
