   I am a Senior Buyer at my alma mater, Idaho State University, a doctoral-research and teaching institution founded in 1901 that attracts students from around the world. My first role at the university was administrative assistant; I was quickly promoted to buyer. Eager to boost my knowledge of purchasing, I enrolled in seven courses on various aspects of procurement and began to work toward CPSM certification. I was promoted a second time last year – to Senior Buyer. As Senior Buyer, I spend the state’s money as carefully as I do my own. I saved the university thousands of dollars by implementing a more effective process for catering requisitions. I manage all aspects of procurement - soliciting bids, analyzing responses, negotiating prices, monitoring delivery and approving payment. And I work side-by-side with technical staff to assure contract specs meet the university’s requirements. I consistently bring bids in on time and within budget. I also administer purchase card transactions for more than 500 university employees. Giving back to the professional community is important to me that is why I serve as Vice President of the Southeast Idaho Chapter of the Institute for Supply Management.During my tenure, I created a program to train university employees to create requisitions with Banner software led to me being nicknamed the “Banner requisition expert.” If you are interested in learning more about my involvement in these areas, please request my resume for a detailed list of accomplishments.
