Lilyanne McClean is a Senior Vice President at FuelCell Energy (FCE), responsible for Global Public Policy and Government Affairs. She is a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team.Lilyanne joined FCE in August of 2022, bringing to the company over 25 years of experience in all aspects of corporate affairs, including government affairs, public affairs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and internal communications.Prior to joining FCE, Lilyanne was the President of TLR, a statewide business organization in Texas dedicated to civil justice reform. In that role she worked to engage CEOs and senior business leaders dedicated to maintaining a probusiness, pro-jobs environment in the State. Before being recruited to TLR, Lilyanne was an Executive Vice President at the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), the largest business/economic development organization in Texas. In that role, she directed the public policy and communications divisions, while also serving as the de facto COO. Lilyanne joined GHP after almost 20 years in Washington, D.C, where she held senior positions at the intersection of business and government. Notably, she held several senior positions at American Express Company (AXP), including Vice President for Tax and Trade, Vice President for Public Affairs (Latin America and the Caribbean), and Vice President for International Government Affairs. She was recruited to AXP from a D.C-based consultancy that specialized in strategic policy implementation for financial services organizations. Her client list included the Federal Reserve Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.Before heading to Washington, D.C, Lilyanne worked for several years on Wall Street, as a commercial banker, middle-market lending analyst and securities services specialist. Lilyanne has met or worked with every U.S. President since George H.W. Bush.Lilyanne is a proud first-generation corporate professional and has always served as a mentor to young men and women seeking success in corporate America. Committed to the next generation of leaders, she has shared many of her experiences and provided advice to over 600 young people through “Race to the Top,” a career column in one of the country’s oldest Black-owned newspapers.
