WORK HISTORY
Trustee (Board Member) @John Ellerman Foundation
John Ellerman Foundation is an independent, endowed grantmaker. our organisational aim is to advance the wellbeing of people, society and the natural world. The main ways in which we achieve this are by:1. Awarding grants annually totalling ~£5.8m to charities for work which has national significance in the arts, environment and social action, and2. Investing and managing our funds in such a way that balances the desire to maintain grantmaking capacity, operate in the long-term and seeking to ensure that our investments are not poorly aligned to our aim and values.I am a trustee of the foundation, with a specialist interest in finance and investing. Ellerman is unusual in that trustees are part-time paid staff, with intensive involvement in grantmaking and foundation investment strategy.

ABOUT LILY MACFADYEN TOMSON
I work with asset owners (pension funds, foundations, university endowments) to develop evidence-based interventions in capital markets, aiming to address systemic crises at scale. I\'m passionate about leveraging the potential of asset owners as actors at the top of the investment chain. I thrive when connecting unlikely partners, often bridging institutional investment, climate policy, civil society, and academia. Previously, I co-founded and scaled projects at the intersection of climate, higher education and responsible investment. I spearheaded the creation of the £550bn+ Occupational Pensions Stewardship Council in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions. The OPSC was described by the Chief Investment Officer of one of the UK’s largest pension schemes as the most useful community he participates in. The \'Responsible Investment Network - Universities\', which I launched while at ShareAction, is the first space for higher education institutions to learn to align their investment approaches with their institutional values, working together on collaborative engagements.I currently lead a project developing a corporate bond index focused on addressing fossil fuel expansion, based between the Finance for Social and Environmental Systemic Change, Department of Land Economy and Jesus College, University of Cambridge. I also have the great honour of serving on the boards of John Ellerman Foundation and Positive Money.
