Proud product of public schools, I am driven by the teachers who believed in me and committed to building education systems that expand opportunity for every student.I am a seasoned education leader with deep experience strengthening statewide and district systems. Most recently, I served as Deputy Commissioner of School Programs at the Texas Education Agency, where I led statewide initiatives impacting 5.5 million students across 1,200+ districts during my seven-year tenure.My work has focused on high-leverage outcomes, including redesigning statewide literacy instruction, implementing school finance reform, expanding college and career readiness, and building cross-sector partnerships that strengthen education-to-career pathways.I serve as a Principal at ILO Group, partnering with state agencies, districts, and cross-sector leaders to move from strategy to execution on major priorities. I support leaders in designing and delivering practical, scalable solutions across literacy, systems improvement, and education-to-career pathways.My journey began as a middle school teacher and instructional coach, and that classroom experience continues to guide my work today.I hold a PhD in American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, an MAT in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership from the University of Memphis, and a BA from Columbia University.
