ABOUT LILLY GOTTFREDSON

Stories are what connects us to others, and I love that process of understanding and connecting through stories! The common theme of my life has been gathering stories: from asking my grandparents for stories, reading books like there was no tomorrow, to collecting oral histories, and exit interviews. There have been 3 major professional milestones I\'ve had in story collecting and telling: Collecting oral histories for Ricks College/BYU-Idaho\'s history of photography, and presenting on the history of writing using ancient artifacts such as a royal cuneiform tablet (18••••37 BCE) and more modern artifacts like a whalebone scrimshaw (1881 CE) for examples of early and modern writing during my curatorial internship Peeking into people\'s lives through resumes and interviews helped me realize how much we can learn about someone, but also realizing that so much is missed too. During my HR Internship I heard hundreds of stories by conducting 1st interviews, exit interviews, and discussing with managers what was happening in their store.
