Serving as the department’s wastewater monitoring program lead and subject matter expert, overseeing statewide surveillance efforts- Spearheaded a comprehensive evaluation of Michigan’s wastewater monitoring project, coordinating a task force and conducting key informant interviews to inform the state’s Wastewater Rightsizing strategy- Integrated demographic, social vulnerability, healthcare access, and geographic coverage data with SARS-CoV-2 viral concentrations to assess representativeness and utility of surveillance data- Conducted data analysis and visualization of wastewater results, including trend analysis and public health interpretation- Developed and launched the Community View dashboard, an intuitive visualization tool for statewide viral activity, enhancing public and internal data accessibility- Led revisions to internal and public dashboards, including data stream updates and visual enhancements, and authored clear public-facing data explanations- Oversaw monitoring, reporting, and analysis of wastewater data to support communicable disease situational awareness- Contributed to an internal data modernization initiative by developing and maintaining automated data processing and analysis tools, supporting both internal workflows and tools used by laboratory partners- Developed new wastewater databases and infrastructure to improve wastewater data reporting efficiency in the health department- Fostered collaboration with private labs, academic institutions, and internal stakeholders to streamline data sharing and strengthen surveillance capacity- Coordinated data submission and sharing with the CDC’s National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS)- Delivered situational updates on communicable diseases to internal teams and community partners- Authored a professional presentation accepted to the CSTE Annual Conference- Attended and served as MDHHS representative on several CDC-organized national wastewater calls.
