About Lianna Smith
I’m an ambitious student at the University of Connecticut focused on how systems, organizations, and communities shape opportunity. Grounded in education and social justice, I’m especially interested in how institutional decisions influence access and long-term growth.Through leadership roles in fundraising, campus programming, and corporate event operations, I’ve developed a strong interest in how teams translate strategy into measurable outcomes. I’ve helped drive engagement for a $2.1M+ fundraising organization, supported high-volume events at Nike’s World Headquarters, and contributed to initiatives designed to strengthen belonging within student communities.My leadership style is rooted in growth and accountability. I aim to create environments where people feel challenged, supported, and trusted to rise to higher expectations. I’m driven by the moments when effort turns into progress, and progress turns into impact. Watching both people and initiatives evolve over time is what keeps me invested in the work.Global study and nonprofit partnerships have expanded my perspective, strengthening my ability to adapt quickly and contribute across different cultural and professional settings. Fundraised year-round and coached peers on donor outreach strategies, contributing to a $2.1 million total for Connecticut Children’s. I promoted engagement through tabling, canning, and social campaigns, and led morale initiatives during the 18-hour event, building a high-energy, mission-driven community in support of pediatric patients and their families.
