ABOUT LIANG GUO
As growing up in the southeast coast of China, I was always awed and curious about the tropical cyclones and the summer monsoon. 2008 was a special year. I finished the master degree in Meteorology, witnessed the Beijing Olympic game and the drastic air quality change during and outside the game. Consequently, I ventured to the University of Reading and started a PhD program on the anthropogenic aerosols and their impacts on the East Asian monsoon.In my 8 years research career in the National Centre of Atmospheric Science (NCAS), I have worked on different topics, tropical cyclone and its rapid intensification, future projections for anthropogenic aerosols and air pollution, extreme rainfalls and tracking their moisture sources by building an innovative tool, flooding risks over the Amazon by building statistical models, accurately predict solar PV productivity with downscaling weather information.With more extreme events occuring in the context of the global warming, I am keen to learn how do these natural hazards impact on the wider society.
