ABOUT LIAM WHELAN ENGTECH

I’m a security-cleared Technical Project and Delivery professional with over 20 years of experience delivering secure communications, infrastructure, and technology change across defence, public sector, nuclear, and transport environments.My background combines technical understanding with delivery leadership. I’ve worked across secure communications systems, infrastructure change, implementation, assurance, and transformation programmes, with experience turning operational and customer requirements into practical plans, delivery outcomes, and resilient solutions.I bring particular strength in technical project delivery, stakeholder engagement, risk and dependency management, cross-functional coordination, and helping teams keep complex work moving in secure and regulated environments.Recent experience includes supporting a major MOD IT migration to Microsoft 365 and virtual desktop infrastructure, managing delivery within a SaaS migration from on-prem to AWS, and leading assurance activity across a nuclear portfolio.Earlier in my career, I spent 17 years in the Royal Marines specialising in secure communications and information systems, designing and delivering resilient networked solutions in demanding operational environments. This included communications architecture, technical assurance, secure systems integration, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver mission-critical capability.I’m particularly interested in security-cleared roles across technical project management, delivery, infrastructure, implementation, and transformation, while continuing to build further in the cloud space.
