ABOUT LIAM OCONNOR
I am an experienced environmental and urban planning specialist with a deep passion and keen interest in leveraging co-benefits across biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable urban development. As an Associate Urban Climate Change Specialist at United Nations ESCAP I am currently supporting sustainable urban development initiatives in Asia and the Pacific, most notably the Urban-Act project funded by the German government. Having authored several publications for the UN and represented ESCAP at numerous forums, assemblies, and workshops, I am competent in policy research & analysis and communicating complex ideas to a wide variety of stakeholders to foster regional cooperation and cross-sector collaboration.I am also competent in project coordination, communications & knowledge management, and proposal development which I have demonstrated by successfully coordinating the development and maintenance of Urban-Act\'s knowledge platform and spearheading project proposals for urban nature recovery and climate resilience.Outside of work, I am active in conservation volunteering and advocating for universal human rights. Other hobbies include exploring urban green spaces, visiting national parks, playing sports, cooking, and photography.
