ABOUT LEXX THORNTON

I’m a proud graduate of the illustrious and Grammy Award Winning-Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a passion for storytelling that amplifies culture, community, and power.My writing journey began in May 2022 with SHEEN Magazine, where I published over 50 digital articles and was featured in 23 print issues. During my time there, I had the opportunity to interview influential figures—from socialites and singers to fashion designers—crafting compelling narratives that connected readers to today\'s cultural pulse.In June 2024, I expanded my work as a staff writer and coordinator for HBCU Research Magazine, a national publication spotlighting research breakthroughs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The magazine, sold at Nashville International Airport, celebrates the innovation and legacy of HBCUs across the country.I also write for HBCU News, where I oversee the Start Smart 5, a digital daily newsletter delivering five essential stories to readers every morning. This role has sharpened my editorial instincts and strengthened my ability to deliver timely, impactful journalism on a daily deadline.Additionally, I serve as a staff writer for ROSA: Women in Power & Politics, a print publication available in our 1920 East Coast store and at both Philadelphia and Nashville International Airports. At ROSA, I contribute stories that elevate women\'s voices and leadership across political and civic spaces.My work is rooted in curiosity, purpose, and a deep commitment to creating media that informs, inspires, and empowers.
