I oversee all sustainable initiatives for Boston University Dining Services and work to align these initiatives with the University\'s Climate Action Plan and Zero Waste Plan. Responsibilities include- Analyze data and report on local and sustainable food sourcing and recommend new vendors and producers to increase sustainable sourcing- Design, implement, and manage programs and systems to reduce food waste by 50% by July 2023, including Leanpath food waste tracking and ‘Weigh the Waste’ events- Manage pre-consumer and post-consumer waste management processes in four dining halls and 20+ retail locations, including diverting food waste to composting and anaerobic digestion - Increase surplus food recovery for donation to local charity partners- Identify opportunities to reduce single-use waste, including growing the reusable programs, sourcing single-use items that can be diverted from the trash stream, and providing disposables by request instead of by default- Organize, manage, and promote a seasonal, on-campus farmers\' market and CSA farm share distribution- Manage Green Restaurant Association certification for eight certified dining locations and onboard new locations- Communicate Boston University Dining Services\' sustainability initiatives with the university community - Manage sustainability website content and the annual sustainability update- Partner with the Boston University community, including students, staff, and faculty to increase awareness of and advance sustainability initiatives, including being a guest speaker for courses, training sustainability ambassadors, and collaborating on student projects - Develop and manage a “Climate Friendly” menu designation to identify low environmental impact foods in all residential dining halls- Maintain Boston University Dining Services’ lead as an environmentally-progressive program
