About Lex Hallberg

As a community-focused leader with a strong foundation in public administration, I thrive at the intersection of civic engagement, strategic partnerships, and mission-driven impact.In my current role as Assistant Director of Community Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University, I connect the university with the Great Lakes Bay Region through innovative initiatives, strategic partnerships, and collaborative problem-solving. I work closely with elected officials, community stakeholders, advisory boards, and campus leaders to strengthen relationships and create meaningful opportunities for students, partners, and the wider community.Outside of the university, I’m deeply engaged in leadership roles that amplify my commitment to building resilient, empowered communities — including serving as a troop leader, service unit manager, and national council delegate with Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan. These experiences have strengthened my skills in volunteer leadership, governance, capacity building, and community-based strategy.Currently pursuing my Master of Public Administration, I bring an academic grounding in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and policy analysis that complements my real-world experience. I’m especially passionate about designing systems and partnerships that help people and organizations grow sustainably — whether in higher education, local government, community development, or youth leadership.At my core, I believe strong communities are built by people who care enough to bridge gaps, ask better questions, and lead with integrity.
