Alexander S. Kelso, Jr.[“Lex”] is a Principal of Green Coast Enterprises, LLC. Green Coast Enterprises is a triple-bottom-line real-estate development firm that focuses on urban areas of the coastal southeast, with the goal of creating sustainable, exciting urban places while generating substantial financial returns. He was born in New Orleans, and moved back after Hurricane Katrina to help with the redevelopment effort.Lex and his partners, starting from scratch, built a real-estate development firm with square feet of commercial space and over residential units in service or under construction. An affiliated company provides energy-efficiency and construction management services for clients across the southeast.Before returning to New Orleans, Lex was the Principal of Kelso International, a consulting firm that worked with senior executives and Boards of Directors of Fortune 500-scale companies in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. His engagements were multi-year, multifunction, on-site and integrated into his clients’ management teams. He began his career as an Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics at Boston University’s School of Management.As an entrepreneur, Lex bought, raised capital, built and sold a software firm. For start-up companies he sold to customers, arranged for manufacturing and testing products based on proprietary technology, and developed business plans. Twice he was offered the position of CEO by technically-oriented company founders. He was a founder of Beacon Angels, a Boston, Massachusetts angel investment group that invested $5 million in start-up and growing companies while he was there.Lex is Chair of the Boys Town Louisiana Board of Directors and a member of the Trust for Public Land Louisiana Advisory Council.Lex holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT, an M.Sc. in Economics from Queen Mary College, University of London, and an A.B. in Sociology from Princeton University. He lives in New Orleans.
