ABOUT LEWIS HARDWAY

I am a Lecturer of Accounting at West Virginia University in the Chambers College of Business and Economics, where I teach courses in corporate financial management, internal auditing, and accounting systems. I also teach introductory finance courses focused on time value of money concepts as an Adjunct Professor of Finance. My goal in the classroom is simple: make complex concepts understandable, practical, and relevant. I focus on helping students not just learn accounting and finance, but clearly communicate and apply them in real-world contexts. In addition to teaching, I serve as Program Coordinator for the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program, where I work to strengthen student outcomes, expand opportunities, and connect academic preparation with professional success. One of the most rewarding aspects of this role has been guiding students from their first Principles courses through to graduation at the master’s level. My academic work centers on corporate governance, ESG-related behavior, and emerging technologies in accounting. I am particularly interested in the growing role of generative AI in financial reporting and tax preparation, and how these tools are reshaping the profession and redefining the skills required of future accountants and advisors. Alongside my academic role, I maintain industry experience as a CPA, including work supporting tax preparation and research in high-volume, technology-enabled environments. This experience has strengthened my ability to interpret complex financial scenarios, apply professional standards, and communicate technical concepts with clarity and precision. I am passionate about developing the next generation of accounting professionals and take pride in helping others build both technical expertise and professional confidence. Montani Semper Liberi
