ABOUT LEVI FLAMAN

I’m a recent Bachelor of Commerce graduate from the University of Alberta, where I specialized in East Asian Business Studies and minored in Business Economics & Law. My academic journey was shaped by a deep interest in global markets, international governance, and the economic ties that connect Canada to the Asia-Pacific region. During my time at the University of Alberta Students’ Union, I was elected Vice-President Operations & Finance, representing a student body of over undergraduates. In this executive role, I led the organization’s financial and operational strategy, managed a $13 million annual budget, and guided a full review and restructuring of our internal legislation to increase clarity, transparency, and accountability. I introduced initiatives to reduce paper waste, streamline processes, and cut unnecessary costs—helping position the organization for long-term sustainability. I also served in multiple leadership and governance capacities over the years: as a student senator on the University of Alberta Senate, a council member on the General Faculties Council, a member of the Board of Governors, and a director of several campus and community organizations. I have been a peer advisor, president of a student academic association, and volunteer across diverse multicultural initiatives. These experiences have taught me how to navigate complex institutions, advocate for diverse communities, and communicate across difference with clarity and purpose. My academic credentials are supported by four formal certificates: International Learning, Global Citizenship, Real Estate, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. I also hold a diploma in Business Administration – Accounting from NAIT. I’m fluent in English, conversational in French and Korean, and have foundational proficiency in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese—skills that align with my interest in working across cultures and borders. I’m especially drawn to roles that intersect operational execution, international development, public policy, and cross-border commerce. Whether working in a corporate, non-profit, or multilateral setting, I bring a focus on strategy, structure, and service. I’m currently exploring full-time opportunities in Canada or Japan that allow me to build meaningful bridges between people, organizations, and ideas. Long-term, I hope to work at the intersection of Canadian and East Asian business—an aspiration I’ve started pursuing through early-stage planning of a Canadian export venture focused on independent food and beverage producers.
