ABOUT LETICIA CASTRO

With more than 10 years of experience in Spanish language and general market news, Leticia Castro is an 9-time Emmy Award winning bilingual journalist who currently serves as a news anchor for Telemundo Las Vegas. Castro joined Telemundo in 2017 as an anchor and reporter - She has covered major stories such as the tragic Las Vegas massacre during which she was live on air for 16 hours uninterrupted reporting on the deadliest shooting in recent US history. She was part of the station\'s extensive coverage on topics such as the 2020 Presidential election, the Covid-19 pandemic, the closure of the Las Vegas Strip, the Leslie Palacio murder case, the historical heat wave, and the weeklong protests in Las Vegas against the Cuban government. Leticia has also interviewed important political figures during midterm and presidential elections such as: President Joe Biden, former Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Senators Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar, Catherine Cortez Masto. She is also in charge of \'Minutos Con Metro\' a segment designed to address issues of importance to the community in relation to crime, and to create a direct connection between the audience and the police department. Leticia is completely bilingual and able to translate from English to Spanish and vice versa during interviews, press conferences, and live events – So she’s been able to serve as moderator for \'Latinos in Law Enforcement\' and \'Lulac\'s Presidential Town Hall\' with Democratic presidential candidates to engage and discuss issues of importance with the powerful Latino electorate in Nevada. During her time at Telemundo Las Vegas, she has won 9 Emmy Awards, for Outstanding Achievement as News Anchor, Program Host, Best Newscast, Best Team Coverage, and multiple news feature stories, including one in the New York Chapter for a team coverage with Telemundo 47. Leticia was born in Long Beach, California to Mexican parents but has spent half of her life in Las Vegas. She grew up in and out of hospitals and treatment centers due to her sister’s medical condition - serving as her mother\'s translator - from a young age she became aware of the power of communication, the need for information, and the importance of helping others. As a journalist she found a way to achieve a her lifelong dream: to serve the community using her voice to tell stories that inform, that educate, that inspire, and can potentially change lives for good.
