My name is Lesly Contreras, and I\'m a current third- year, first-generation college student here at UC Berkeley. I\'m studying Political Economy and minoring in Global Poverty and Practice! My pursuit of these areas of study stems from a passion for understanding the systemic frameworks that influence our daily lives and affect us in ways we may not always recognize. Through my education and involvement in various organizations, my perspectives have evolved significantly, fueling a deep passion for the kind of work I want to pursue. I hope to work in social justice reform—whether through grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, or working abroad to address global issues. I’m continually seeking to learn, both through my academic journey and my efforts outside the classroom. After completing my undergraduate studies, I hope to pursue graduate school or law school to further prepare myself to make meaningful impact and change!

   Jan 2025 — Present

   Serve as a peer leader and mentor for residents by fostering an inclusive and supportive community, planning events to build connections and promote well-being, and helping students navigate academic and personal challenges. Support residential life through policy enforcement, conflict mediation, and administrative tasks like room checks, incident reports, and emergency response. Perform on-call duty shifts at least three times a month from 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM to ensure resident safety and provide after-hours support.
