About Leslie Hempson
I am a user experience researcher and Ph.D. social scientist with over 15 years of experience designing, managing, and implementing research projects in emerging markets and the U.S. I have conducted research in multiple languages (English, Hindi, and Urdu) and multiple countries, including India. Much of my work has focused on creative efforts to build sustainable products for underserved populations. For example, I have used qualitative research methods to examine how novice users interacted with new payment systems in rural North India and with government transparency websites in Columbus, Ohio. I am skilled in a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including ethnography, diary studies, usability testing, card sorting, surveys, concept evaluation, and secondary research.I currently work as a user experience researcher at LexisNexis, where I lead and execute all phases of qualitative and quantitative research on two global products. I previously worked as an educator at Denison University, where I helped to expand its curriculum to meet growing student demand for a globally-oriented education.
