About Leslie Weber
What does a political aide do? A little bit of everything! Why does it matter?Ultimately, because it helps all of us.When policy issues and community matters arise, I take care of the details, so our elected officials can better care for their constituents. I research the issues, essentially becoming the subject matter expert in providing advice and accurately preparing talking points and issue briefings. As part of a small team, I manage various forms of communication such as: social media newsletters community response I serve as a direct point of contact, assisting constituents and community stakeholders while working with internal departments and external governmental agencies. My motivation to work in politics and government comes from a desire to be a voice for those who don’t have one, an advocate for fair and equitable policy while positively impacting our community. Examples of these include: Advocating for an increase in funding for non-profits affected by COVID-19 which resulted in assistance to several local organizations Drafting a resolution adding Education to the Board of Supervisors existing priority issues (Environment, Economy & Equity) which passed unanimously and is now considered when making policy and budgetary decisions Collaborating with the County homeless outreach team to secure funding for services for the unhoused and address community concerns regarding homeless encampments A successful political aide is trustworthy, adaptable to an ever-changing landscape, flexible in their thinking, intuitive, collaborative, a good listener, and an effective communicator. It’s a responsibility that I never take lightly. It’s an honor to serve, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. It’s with great pleasure to hear my coworkers describe me as a quick learner, a supportive team player, and a lot of fun to work with.Contact me at D••••••@comcast.net to learn more.Specialties: Community Engagement | Interpersonal Effectiveness | Research Policy Issues | Constituent Relations | Strategic Thinking/Advising | Planning & Organizing | Project Coordination | Flexible/Multi-Tasking | Writing/Editing
