The Consumer Bureau (CFPB) is a 21st century agency that helps consumer finance markets work by making rules more effective, by consistently and fairly enforcing those rules, and by empowering consumers to take more control over their economic lives. The Youth Education Team seeks to build the capacity of teachers, school administrators, and educators so they can in turn deliver high quality financial education. Our research on how young people can acquire the three “building blocks” of financial capability to help them effectively navigate the financial marketplace as adults and provides guidance to educators, policymakers, parents, and caregivers on the roles they have to play.My focus is supporting financial capability skill building in K-12 education. I have led our work in creating content to provide K-12 educators with free resources to help students develop financial knowledge, skills, and habits. These resources make it easy for educators to find, download and use relevant classroom activities. We help educators evaluate financial education programs and understand the research-based building blocks of youth financial capability. There are also resources to help K-12 educators incorporate financial capability into their curriculum, whether they are experienced personal finance teachers, new to the subject, or integrating financial capability into another subject area. Visit our youth financial page at to learn more.
