About Leslie Harper-Miles

Leslie is currently the Director of the King County, voter-approved,$1.74 billion Harborview Bond Capital Program. The program will implement Harborview\'s long-range strategic plans including constructing over one million square feet of new and renovated spaces. This work will increase the healthcare quality and capacity in the region. Leslie is a native Seattleite with lifelong family and community ties to the Pacific Northwest. After earning a master’s degree from the University of Washington, Leslie began a successful career which has spanned more than 30 years. Her extensive experience includes work in finance, public policy, strategic planning, public/private developments, construction management and retail space leasing. Having worked at the senior, executive level for three decades, Leslie has been engaged with complex issues, in politically sensitive environments, across all business lines. Leslie’s experience encompasses managing all facets of project development from inception to conclusion, including establishing budgets, scopes of work, schedules and managing special conditions, such as landmarks designations, sustainability goals, project labor agreements and stakeholder engagement. Leslie hires and manages contractors, consultants, and staffs. Leslie is a lead representative in hearings and public forums where her experience and professional decorum is highly valued. Leslie has a commitment to pursuing opportunities that help those in need. She co-founded a joint domestic violence task force with staff from the King County Sheriff\'s Office, the Executive and Prosecuting Attorney\'s Office to strengthen the County’s internal response systems. Leslie is a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church and she affiliates with a range of professional and community organizations. Leslie served for several years as a board member to the King County (Harborstone) Credit Union. Leslie is also a successful entrepreneur, author and proud wife and mother of three children.
