About Lesley Backus
I started my career in boutique experiential agencies and today I lead Global Strategy at one of the world’s largest PR agencies.With 15+ years of strategy experience, it’s my job to elevate the work. I’m a fierce advocate for creative and fight to find the simple, inspiring paths that lead to great ideas. I’ve had the privilege of leading brand and creative strategy for companies like PepsiCo, Johnson & Johnson, The Hershey Company, VF Corp and Bayer, and have helped transform brands like Udi’s and Perfect Bar from category newcomer to category leader. My client roster is diverse, but I specialize in CPG, Food and Beverage. I’m also extremely passionate about brands in the wellness, natural and outdoor space. At FleishmanHillard, I work everyday to help realize the agency’s creative ambition to Bend the World by living at the intersection of culture, brand and earned. I’ve lived many lives at the agency, from creating the first Brand Planning team at the St. Louis headquarters office to now leading the Global Strategy function. In my current role, I lead a team of strategists and oversee brand planning and creative strategy for Fortune 500 clients and the agency’s largest new business efforts. I\'ve helped reimagine the agency’s approach to earned creative and drive the cultural revolution to do our best creative work. I aspire to create new worlds, together and lead teams with vulnerability, bravery and compassion. I spent my adulthood moving around the U.S. with stints in the Northeast, Southeast, West and Midwest. It was a bit nomadic, but nourished my fascination for humans and allowed me to experience what links us together. I\'ve found home in the Rocky Mountains in Vail Valley, CO.
