ABOUT LESLEY FLEMING
I have now retired from paid employment to become a carer for my elderly mother. To any managers who feel the need to step away from the stress a d return to hands on support I can recommend the change. Best thing I ever did. Previously I have managed a service for Voyage Care called Calvert House in Leyland. Having recently been inspected by CQC we maintained our Good rating. My role involved managing the support of complex individuals with LD ABI and mental health issues. The service is on the path to become outstanding by developed the skills of staff to ensure excellence first time every time. Prior to this role I supported people with a learning disability within Bury for 30 years. I was instrumental in transferring from a residential model to a supported living model. I created a team which supports 70+ customers across 3 services and 17 properties. Providing excellent person centred support. Unfortunately in 2017 I was made redundant. For 18 months I took on a service working for Potens in Wythenshawe. Cornish Close is a Residential and Supported living service for people with learning disabilities. The service had been somewhat neglected by previous owners and by the landlord. The role was a struggle to bring the service up to the standard the people we support deserve. I feel after major struggles when I left the service had turned a corner.
