I consider myself a \"deployable asset\" for the Department. I go and do where I\'m needed and where I can make the most difference. My overall responsibility is generating and sustaining department-wide, cross-divisional programming to support the educational mission of the agency while simultaneously promoting the best preservation, care, and exhibition of our state\'s wonderfully diverse cultural heritage. My many roles within the department has led to great successes, including commemorations, special exhibitions, and unique programs. One of my shining achievements was the years of researching and writing the tragedies of the birth of the modern white supremacy movement in Wilmington, NC in 1898, resulting in the deaths of innocent black men at the hands of an angry white mob.
