ABOUT LEORA SALLIS

Leora Sallis, LCSW, has over 20 years of psychotherapy, counseling, coaching, and consulting experience with emerging talent and established leaders in both corporate and non-profit worlds. She combines her clinical training as a social worker and psychotherapist with the wealth of practical knowledge and expertise she has built from her corporate and non-profit mentoring, to help organizations and individuals meet their business and cultural objectives.Leora has worked as a consultant in multiple non-profit social service agencies. These include Sanctuary for Families, where she trained survivors of domestic violence in public speaking to enable them to share their stories in clinical and non-clinical settings, Columbia University’s Workplace Center, where she focused on supporting the rights of individuals with mental health disabilities in the workplace, Beth Israel Hospital Victim Services where she treated domestic abuse victims, trained the ER staff and provided outreach to the NYPD. She has provided general trauma and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) training to doctors, ER staff, NYPD and NYFD staff, as well as specific post 9-11 related PTSD support and training.In the corporate world she has worked with executives at Girl Scouts of America, Jennison Associates, CUNY School of Professional Studies, Randall Reilly, The Juilliard School and Rabobank, teaching them how to effectively manage staff and develop their own leadership style. Most recently, she served as Managing Director of Social Work and Wellness at COOP - a non-profit leadership program and recipient of the prestigious Obama Fellowship - where she founded and grew the social work function to provide holistic anti-racist, anti-oppressive, socio-emotional support to students and alumni of the program. Through a rich curriculum devoted to understanding and navigating micro aggression in the workplace, achieving professional clarity, to on-boarding into new work settings, Leora created spaces encouraging deep, meaningful conversation about what it means to show up in the workplace and find ways to thrive, particularly for the BIPOC community. After graduating from Brandeis University, Leora earned her Masters in Mass Communication and Research from Boston University, and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University. She trained at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy. She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and CISD (Critical Incident Stress Debriefing). Leora is also trained as an Executive Coach through iCoach.
