ABOUT LEONIDA ANTONIO GIZZI
In two words, I am a laser enthusiast! In practical terms, I am an experimental physicist in the field of high power lasers, laser-plasma interactions for Inertial Fusion Energy and laser-plasma acceleration. I received my degree in Physics from the University of Pisa in 1989 and my Ph.D. in Physics from the Imperial College of S.T. & M, London (UK) in 1994. From 1995 to 1997 I was a research staff member of the astrophysics X-ray group at ITESRE-CNR (National Research Council) in Bologna. In 1997 I joined CNR in Pisa, where I am now Research Director and Head of the local Unit of the National Institute of Optics (INO) and Director of the Intense Laser Irradiation Laboratory (ILIL). Since 2003 I have been an associate researcher of the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). I have a leading role in several European and national project and I was invited speaker at many conferences and meetings. I am the author of more than 300 publications (Source ISI Web of Science and Scopus) and member of program and advisory committee of several international conferences. I am co-editor of international journals and Outstanding Referee of the American Physical Society.
