ABOUT LEON HEMERYCK

I entered the IT (Information Technology) field in February of 1989 working for INC Computers Inc. which was located in the Selby Building, London, Ontario, Canada. I started building, installing, and troubleshooting PCs which were very basic (and very expensive!) at the time. Even though I had always been a computer enthusiast (remember the Vic 20 and Commodore 64?), this initiation into the professional computer field helped me understand how computers and networks worked at a very basic, fundamental level. In the early 90\'s, networking started to evolve and \"Wow\", have things changed!In 1994, I decided to venture out on my own and I started an IT Support company specializing in IT Support Services for small business. We supplied, installed and supported a variety of computer hardware (desktops, servers, peripherals, routers, etc) as well as software and the networking of this equipment.Since 1994, I have essentially remained self-employed and continue to evolve with the rapidly changing IT industry. I have experienced an amazingly wide range of support challenges and dynamic environments. I currently provide IT support for small businesses with a focus on Insurance Brokers, however, I also work with manufacturing, medical and other industries.Recent developments related to IT security (or lack thereof) have prompted me to pursue an IT niche I\'ve always been fascinated with: Cyber Security. I assist small business defend against the constant and unrelenting threats to our systems.I recently starting developing easy to use, intuitive custom applications using various platforms including Python, Microsoft Visual products, and FileMaker. I love the challenge of developing a simple solution that helps save time and frustration!
