As an Agricultural Officer at FAO, I lead the technical support to countries and regions on sustainable horticultural cropping systems, focusing on high-value and nutritious vegetables and fruit production. I have a Master\'s degree in Agricultural Engineering and over 15 years of international experience in emergency and development projects targeting smallholder and pastoralists communities in rural areas of Asia, Africa, and Latin America.I have first-hand experience applying and disseminating various agricultural technologies, including hydroponics, drip irrigation, greenhouses, and rainwater harvesting structures. I also have experience developing and implementing innovative solutions for urban agriculture, vertical farms, and simplified hydroponics systems.Meshing vegetable production expertise and 20+ years of passion for coding with different computer languages, I am also practical at building IoT solutions based on open source hardware, and developing ad-hoc software and hardware applications to support decision-making and automation to increase the efficiency of farmer-led agricultural operations.
